JPG, PNG and WebP are cleaned losslessly · HEIC and others become a clean JPG · nothing is uploaded
Cleaned on your device. Your photos are never uploaded.
Step by step: Remove EXIF & Location from WebP Photos on iPhone
- 1
Open this page in Safari (or Chrome) on your iPhone or iPad.
- 2
Tap the box above. Choose Photo Library to pick from Photos, or Choose File to browse the Files app (iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, Downloads).
- 3
Each photo shows the metadata found in it – location, date, device – and a clean copy is made straight away.
- 4
Tap Download. Safari saves the file to Files › Downloads (tap the download arrow in the address bar to find it). To add an image to Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Image.
What gets removed
- GPS coordinates, date and time, camera or phone make and model, lens and exposure settings, editing software and any embedded thumbnail.
- JPG, PNG and WebP are cleaned without touching the image data, so they look exactly the same. HEIC photos are saved as a clean, high-quality JPG.
Tips for iPhone
- When sharing from Photos, tap Options at the top of the share sheet and turn off Location – but that doesn't remove the rest of the EXIF data, and only applies to that share.
- Most social networks strip metadata when you post, but email, AirDrop, cloud links and many chat apps send the original file with everything still in it.
Frequently asked questions
Does removing EXIF data reduce quality?
No. Only the hidden information is removed; the WebP image data isn't touched.
Can I clean several photos at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and download them all in one ZIP.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser using your device's own processor, so your photos never leave your device. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.
Where does the converted file go on my iPhone?
Tap Download. Safari saves the file to Files › Downloads (tap the download arrow in the address bar to find it). To add an image to Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Image.
